So, yesterday I saw a story in my facebook feed titled "11-Year-Old Boy Played in His Yard. CPS Took Him, Felony Charge for Parents." Even if the story as reported is just 80% truth, you have to admit that its ridiculous to file felony charges against a parent because their son is playing their own yard for 90 minutes.
Many people want big government. What they don't realize is that this is the consequence of big government. You don't' get to decide what big government does - you might think you do but you really don't. They are big enough to just do whatever they want and get away with it often enough to make society "toe the line" to whatever the government deems "ideal behavior" regardless of logic or right or wrong.
So, the next time someone pipes up with another harebrained idea of how government should get involved in society, remind them of this article (and many others like it). Ask them how they would prevent the vast EXISTING government bureaucracy from needlessly destroying lives.
